Sensei Matthew Day has been an instructor with the Washington Karate Association for over 20 years. Active within the karate community as an instructor, athlete, and official, his list of accomplishments include: Former United States National Karate Team Member, National and International Champion, Pan American Official, USA-National Karate-Do Federation Athlete Representative, and Chairman of the International Hayashi-Ha Shito-Ryu Organizing Committee.
The Washington Karate Association - Ballard Dojo is the first Washington Karate Association school established by Shihan Julius Thiry since the organization's inception in November 1966. Until 2004, the Ballard Dojo was located on the corner of 85th and 15th Ave NW and has been a familiar Seattle icon to Ballard residents for over 35 years.
In June 2004, the Ballard Dojo relocated 1 mile east to a larger, more modern facility on 86th and 3rd Ave NW. Today, still conveniently located in Seattle, the Ballard Dojo is nestled along several major bus routes and remains the benchmark for excellence in traditional karate in Seattle.

Programs
A flexible schedule of classes is available throughout the day, seven days a week, with a variety of programs to choose from.
Karate
Beginner through advanced karate instruction for all ages. Classes available 7 days/week.
After School Program
Weekdays, from 3pm-6pm. Transportation is available from Seattle satellite schools to the Washington Karate Association. Light snack is provided, study area with internet-ready computers, and karate class.
Kinder Karate
For children ages 3-7. An excellent introduction to the karate environment through games which enhance physical coordination, mental focus, and the ability to follow directions.
